KUALA LUMPUR: SEMICO has expanded its family entertainment business with the opening of a new wholly-owned family entertainment centre (FEC) at Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur.

The centre, located on the mall's Lower Ground Floor, occupies approximately 5,640 sq ft and features more than 40 arcade and amusement machines.

Its attractions include racing and motorcycle games, claw and prize machines, sports and music games, as well as vending machines catering to customers across different age groups.

Semico Capital said the city centre location, coupled with direct public transport access, would expose the business to a wider customer base, including local shoppers and international tourists.

The group also expects to benefit from the mall's established entertainment offerings and existing visitor traffic, providing opportunities to attract customers seeking family-oriented leisure activities.

Executive director and chief executive officer Tai Lee Chuen said the centre features a modern interior and a selection of arcade games aimed at meeting consumer preferences, particularly among younger customers.

He said the new outlet would complement Berjaya Times Square's existing retail and leisure attractions.

On its business outlook, Tai said measures announced under Budget 2027 could support consumer spending through higher personal income tax relief and lower tax rates for selected income brackets.

He also pointed to the RM935 million allocation for tourism and cultural activities, as well as the extension of the Visit Malaysia campaign to 2027, as potential drivers of tourism-related business activity.

The group believes these initiatives could provide a supportive operating environment for its family entertainment business.
