KUALA LUMPUR: Kobay Technology Bhd expects its manufacturing division to sustain its growth momentum for the remainder of financial year 2027 (FY27), supported by a healthy order pipeline and encouraging demand from semiconductor customers.
The group said orders secured from the semiconductor industry had improved revenue visibility and were expected to support business performance in the coming months.
For the first quarter ended Sept 30, 2026 (1QFY27), Kobay's net profit surged 73.3% year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM18.7 million from RM10.8 million, marking its highest quarterly earnings to date.
Revenue rose 17.5% to RM130.2 million from RM110.9 million, mainly driven by stronger contributions from its manufacturing division, which benefited from continued expansion in the semiconductor industry.
Manufacturing revenue increased 33.7% y-o-y to RM96.3 million, accounting for 73.9% of group turnover.
The division's profit before tax jumped 70.5% to RM21 million from RM12.3 million, exceeding RM20 million for the first time in a quarter, supported by a higher contribution from better-margin products.
On a quarter-on-quarter basis, revenue was relatively stable against RM131.8 million in 4QFY26, while net profit rose 74% from RM12.5 million, reflecting the favourable sales mix.
Kobay said its other investment businesses maintained stable performance, contributing about 5% of group profit after tax during the quarter.
While remaining positive on its prospects, the group said it would monitor rising costs, recessionary risks and broader market conditions to maintain sustainable profitability.
Managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Koay said Kobay would continue to leverage its manufacturing capabilities and technical expertise to meet higher production requirements, while focusing on capacity utilisation, operational efficiency and cost optimisation.
The group would also pursue new customer opportunities and expand its product and service offerings to strengthen its market position.
