KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis Bhd anticipates low single-digit growth in both service revenue and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (ebitda) for the 2026 financial year (FY26), with capital expenditure (capex) expected to remain at approximately 10% of total revenue.

As a leading integrated telecommunications service provider in Malaysia, the group stated that it will continue to enhance customer experience through tailored connectivity solutions and a reliable, nationwide network.

Simultaneously, it aims to optimise operational efficiency to drive long-term, sustainable growth and create enduring value for its stakeholders.

Regarding its full-year outlook, Maxis has maintained its guidance for FY26, projecting low single-digit growth for both service revenue and ebitda, with capex intensity remaining at around 10% of total revenue.

In terms of its latest financial performance, Maxis reported an 8.5% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase in net profit for the third quarter (3Q) ended September 30, 2026, rising to RM447 million from RM412 million in the same period last year.

According to the company’s quarterly financial report filed with Bursa Malaysia, its 3Q revenue grew 3.7% y-o-y, from RM2.589 billion to RM2.684 billion, while profit before tax increased 10.7%, from RM544 million to RM602 million.

Meanwhile, for the first nine months of FY26, the group’s cumulative revenue reached RM8.071 billion, a 4% y-o-y increase. Cumulative profit before tax rose by 10.4% to RM1.746 billion, and net profit grew by 10.1% y-o-y to reach RM1.3 billion.

Consumer Segment Leads Revenue Growth

In terms of business segments, the consumer business remains the group’s primary source of revenue, with its 3Q revenue growing by 1.3% y-o-y to RM1.847 billion. Postpaid revenue grew by 2.8% to RM979 million, with the subscriber base increasing by 4.4% to 4.268 million.

As for the prepaid segment, revenue declined by 0.8% y-o-y to RM611 million, while the number of subscribers fell by 7.9% to 5.319 million.

The group attributed this to the implementation of new registration guidelines for prepaid SIM cards; however, the average revenue per user (ARPU) showed improvement.

Revenue from the enterprise segment reached RM419 million in 3Q, a marginal y-o-y increase of 0.2%.

Ebitda Rises As Capex Targets Network Expansion

Regarding profitability, the Group’s ebitda for the third quarter rose by 3.6% y-o-y to RM1.142 billion, driven primarily by growth in service revenue and the continued execution of cost-management initiatives.

Capex for 3Q stood at RM235 million, allocated mainly towards the expansion of fiber networks in key areas, as well as enhancements to network performance and infrastructure.

Additionally, the board of directors has declared a third interim dividend of 4.5 sen per share. The dividend will be paid on December 22, with an entitlement date of November 30.

For the first nine months of FY26, the cumulative dividends declared by the group total 12.5 sen per share, an increase from the 12 sen per share declared during the same period last year.
